Each November, the media and activist groups across the nation center a “Transgender Day of Remembrance” on many of their platforms, inviting the world to stop and reflect on the trans identified people who lost their lives to violence in the previous year.
It’s always a good idea to honor the sanctity of lives lost. I don’t have a problem with this. All murder is tragic and senseless and devastating. No one deserves it.
The appropriate response to murder is grief. All murder victims were humans made in God’s image and deeply loved by their families and friends. Their lives had meaning. Their deaths do, too.
If people are sincere in their desire to honor the dead by reducing violence, we need to take an honest look at the factors related to the violence. Victims are NOT to be blamed for their own murders, but if trends emerge in the factors surrounding their deaths, these trends should be noted and addressed, trends like homelessness, drug use, and intimate partner violence. Many of the deceased were involved in sex work, arguably one of the most dangerous professions on the planet.
The mainstream narrative refuses to acknowledge these factors. It lumps all cases together and manipulates the public into believing there’s an epidemic of bigotry culminating in a slew of violent hate crimes. They want you to believe people are dying because of stigma. They want you to believe that black trans “women” are being racially profiled and targeted, when, in fact, over 95% of the people being charged with these crimes committed them against their own race.
Each year, the HRC publishes a list of the trans identified people who have been murdered. I decided to learn about the people being grieved. There is very little information available about a number of them, especially the most recent tragedies that are just now beginning to be investigated. Here’s what I was able to discover about the crimes where a suspect had been named. As many of these trials are still ongoing without a concrete conviction, please insert an obligatory “allegedly” before each of the claims:

All of their lives had meaning. All of their lives should be mourned. But they weren’t primarily killed by bigotry. NONE of them were killed by TERFs. They were killed by violent ex boyfriends. They were killed while engaged in prostitution, one of the world’s deadliest professions. They were killed in domestic disputes with people they knew. They were killed in drug deals gone terribly wrong.
Honor their lives by telling the truth about their deaths in order to correctly identify and thus address the actual trends that are stealing their lives. If you don’t care enough to address the problems that actually kill them, you’re probably just virtue signaling, which is not honoring to them at all.
