Maybe the Tower of Babel is a lesson to Christians. Perhaps the only thing he wants us to agree on is that he rose from the dead and overcame death. What if we reached a point where all churches said we agree but we all were wrong? I dont think it’s necessary for unity of the church. I think its necessary we agree who Jesus is and that he overcame death.

“We need to agree on the ‘essentials’ of the faith, have liberty on the secondary doctrinal matters, and in all things display charity.”

If all Christians fully embraced that truth, there would be no need to have separate denominations.

I'm not sure this essay quite accomplished what it set out to do. Unification would be lovely, but if the Universalists say that everyone gets to heaven regardless of where they start out, and certain sects of Unitarianism deny the divinity of Christ, Calvinists still believe in predestination...

Catholicism has always had its problems; there's a great deal of diversity and political squabbling even among the writings of the saints and pontiffs. But as unhelpful a point as it is, Protestants needs to figure out what they agree on period. RC may not be perfect (those bits about Francis were spot on, and a lot of us are confused) but for 1500 years the mother church has held together and continues to do so despite challenges; Protestantism just keeps splitting. If there weren't something to RC, I think we'd have had more schisms than we've had.
