Wow. I disagree. Trump is an evil man. His fruit is clearly seen for all with eyes to see. You don't need to listen to the media, it comes out of his own mouth. He's choosing many for his administration that don't even meet minimum qualifications. Half of the country is terrified. Would prefer to hear some words of encouragement that sound remotely Christian.
I skimmed that section since it was hard to get past the defense of Trump. All charges against him were unwarranted? That is discrediting to the author and it's dishonest. How the church can embrace this man is shocking to many believers and unbelievers alike. I understand why some voted for him. But for a Christian to basically say "In your face liberals!" does nothing to further the gospel. I am really saddened by all of this.
Gosh, I didn’t read this as “in your face, liberals” at all. I read it as a scathing rebuke of the horrible way the party has treated people for a long while. Because it’s been horrible. And people have had enough, including a large number of my lifelong leftist friends who plugged their noses and voted for him.
To be clear, I think Trump is a narcissistic egomaniac who only ever operates in his own self interest. I also think many of the charges brought against him were bogus. It’s hard, but important, I think, to hold truths in tension.
I’m sorry if this article didn’t land in a good place for you. I fully appreciated Brian’s caution to conservatives.
Where you and I might be able to agree is that Trump is not a righteous man and Christians have no business pretending like he is. We also have quite a lot of rot in our own camp with which we need to contend.
I'll just say it: I'm really, really scared of the theobros attached to Trump.

You’ll also notice that Brian clearly names the problematic nature of Trump’s appointees. Perhaps you didn’t get that far into the article?

For what it’s worth, I didn’t vote for Trump. I voted third party. But I do agree with a lot of the analysis here.
